9 years later, reflecting on my first business & how it changed my life

Thanks to COVID, 9 years since launching my first business I’m back to my childhood bedroom where it all began. I can’t help but reflect on how that single decision completely changed my life.

On July 4, 2011 from this bedroom and this very desk I launched my luxury apparel business using Shopify, a small local startup at the time, and retailed in the prestigious Cours Montreal.

I had 0 experience in fashion or business. But my curiosity and determination for something greater took me far beyond what I could have ever imagined for myself.

My business didn’t become a multi-million dollar success (like Shopify 😅 ) but I recognize now that simply choosing to start something and push through its incredible challenges gave me a different kind of strength.

When I say “nine years” out loud it sounds like an eternity but looking back it truly felt like the blink of an eye.

In this “time to build” this reflection reminds me that:

Success or failure, it doesn’t matter.

Trying something new, simply out of curiosity will lead to a lifetime of learning and it’s this consistent pursuit that invites incredible opportunities.
